A Blank Canvas Needs Paint and Inspiration

Magnolia, cream and shades of off-white are no longer good enough, according to the results of a recent survey byletting agents Salmon’s. Potential new tenants now expect more when viewing rental properties and starter homes. There was a time when ‘keeping it neutral’ was the best option for buy to let landlords, but tenant feedback reveals that those days are long gone.

‘Tenants view properties with a much more ‘homely’ mindset than they used to before’ said Stewart Salmon, ‘When surveyed, many feel that the pale neutral colours are too cold and don’t offer a vision of a properties full potential, especially in unfurnished properties.’

‘They appreciate the more daring of landlords tastes, and buy to let property owners would do well to brush up on their interior design skills, and also consider that the 18-25 year old tenant demographic often need workspace for a computer, and a large flat screen tv wouldn’t hurt either’ Salmon joked.
